1 (1 pound) loaf sliced white bread (used Kirkland Multigrain that had been frozen for a while)
3/4 cup butter or margarine
1 onion, chopped
4 stalks celery, chopped
1 teaspoons poultry seasoning
salt and pepper to taste
1 cup chicken broth
2 eggs + a little milk
Italian Sausage diced small (used Bob Evens tube)
2 tablespoons sage


  • Baked bread for 30 minutes at 300 degrees, cool, then cut into cubes.
  • Brown Italian Sausage
  • In a large pan,
  1. Melt butter or margarine over medium heat.
  2. Cook onion and celery until soft.
  3. Season with poultry seasoning, sage, salt, and pepper.
  4. Add cooked Italian Sausage
  • Turn pan heat off and stir in bread cubes until evenly coated.
  • In a separate bowl mix egg, milk, and chicken broth; add to pan and mix well.
  • Chill, bake in a buttered casserole dish at 350 (or 400?) degrees F (175 degrees C) for 30 to 40 minutes. (bake covered for 25 min?)
